About our Paso Robles Boutique Winery
Founded in 2001 in California's bountiful Paso Robles wine region, we are a family owned boutique winery committed to making exceptional, hand-crafted wines at an affordable price.
Working with premium grapes from the Paso Robles area; we make an eclectic assortment of different varietals and blends - from Albariño to Zinfandel - using grapes associated with Bordeaux, Burgundy, Rhône and Spain; and allowing each to display its own singular characteristics and personality. The common thread amongst all of our wines is that the grapes are always local and exemplary.
"My tastes are varied" Ron explains, "I make about 2,000 cases per year, split into eight to twelve different wines. By sourcing grapes from local vineyard I'm able to pursue the varietals that interest me the most. Every year I make the mainstays of the linep and with the twists, turns and surprises and that come with the industry, I'm able to spontaneously make a few new wines all the time. There's always something new and exciting to try at Chateau Lettau!"
The owner, Ron Nodder, spent his youth in the great wine regions of Northern California's Napa and Sonoma Valleys.
"I remember walking hand in hand with my grandfather through the vineyards" he says, "witnessing the centuries-old process of transforming grapes to wines."
These memories created an intense desire to continue the family tradition in his adult life. After moving to California's Central Coast, he was introduced to the vineyards and wines of the Paso Robles region and the dream was fulfilled. Named after his wife, Tawnya Lettau, Chateau Lettau combines the passion of a lifelong dream with world class grapes to produce exceptional wines at a reasonable price.
"From our family to yours, enjoy!"
All of our grapes are sourced from vineyards in California's Central Coast - from the big red Bordeaux varietals from Paso Robles' exclusive west side to the gentler whites and Pinot Noir from Monterey County to the hearty Zinfandel from Paso's traditional east side. We crush, ferment, age, blend, bottle and store according to the individual vintage's unique characteristics. We eschew mass production techniques in favor of small hand crafted methods that bring out the very best the grapes have to offer based on a combination of the terroir, climate, vineyard and varietal.
